Why has a transaction been debited from my account at a later date?

If you notice a transaction being debited from your account at a later date for a place you've already visited, it's most likely a regularisation.

🧐 What is a regularisation?

A regularisation is a transaction you made that is debited from your account a few days after your initial payment.

A payment line will appear with the note "We've just debited this transaction you made on DD/MM/YYYY". You can see the date of the original payment.

👀 Why has my account been regularised?

When you pay with your Swile card, it triggers an authorisation request. Our system checks that you have enough balance and that the merchant accepts meal vouchers.

If everything is fine, the banking system reserves the funds (and you see a debit). The merchant then needs to connect their payment terminal to collect the funds. If they don't do this quickly enough, the funds reserved by the banking system are released and your initial transaction is cancelled.

When the merchant finally connects their payment terminal, the banking system automatically takes back the funds that were previously released to make sure the payment goes through.
