At the start of 2024, SNCF updated some of its reservation systems. Due to this change, some tickets may appear as cancelled on the SNCF agents' control terminal (before boarding or during the journey). Here are the steps to follow if you encounter this situation.
SNCF staff are aware of this issue and the specific transition. However, there may still be particular cases where you might be stuck.
The inspector won't let you board the train and asks you to pay for a new ticket:
1. Explain that your ticket is indeed valid
2. Ask them to internally verify the validity of your ticket, as the issue is due to the transition with Boost
3. Import your reservation into the TGV INOUI PRO mobile app and show the reservation status to the inspector
4. Go to an SNCF kiosk and print your paper ticket. This should prove to SNCF staff that you are acting in good faith and that the SNCF system does recognise your reservation.
If despite these explanations, they insist that you buy a new ticket, you will need to purchase the ticket only for the affected journey and follow the final step of this article.
You have boarded the train and the inspector wants to fine you for an invalid ticket:
1. Explain that your ticket is indeed valid
2. Ask them to internally verify the validity of your ticket, as the issue is due to the transition with Boost
3. If you have a Liberté card and your ticket was booked at this rate, import your reservation into the TGV INOUI PRO app (if not already done) and show the reservation status to the inspector
Contact us by providing the following documents:
- A screenshot of the confirmed reservation in the TGV INOUI PRO app (if applicable to your situation).
- Proof from the inspector's terminal showing that the reservation appears as cancelled or invalid (if possible).
- The reservation reference of the new ticket (if you had to buy a new one) + a copy of the ticket in question
- A copy of the fine (if you received one)
We will handle opening a claim with SNCF to obtain the associated refunds.
