How much luggage can I take on a train?

As each railway company has its own conditions, the amount of luggage you can take on board the train may vary. Here you can find information about the maximum amount of luggage you are allowed to take on board, depending on the train you are travelling on.

🧳 SNCF:

Whether on TGV INOUI, TER or Intercités, you can take as much luggage as you like, with no weight or number limit. However, a little advice: only take luggage that you can carry yourself.

🧳 Thalys:

Your Thalys ticket allows you to take one piece of hand luggage as well as two pieces of luggage (maximum dimensions of these two pieces of luggage / height x width x depth: 75 x 53 x 30 cm).

🧳 Lyria:

You can take as much luggage as you like (as long as you can carry it yourself), with no weight or number limit.

🧳 Eurostar:

If you are travelling on a Standard or Standard Premier ticket: you can take 2 bags/suitcases not exceeding 85cm in length and 1 small piece of hand luggage (handbag, briefcase, computer bag etc).
If you are travelling on a Business Premier ticket: you can take 3 bags/luggage not exceeding 85cm in length and 1 small piece of hand luggage.

🧳 Renfe/Renfe-SNCF:

You can board the train with a maximum of 3 pieces of luggage, each measuring 85 x 55 x 35 cm. The total weight of your luggage must not exceed 25 kg.

⚠️ ATTENTION: In all cases, please make sure to label all your luggage before departure, and to store it in the storage spaces available on board the trains so as not to obstruct the passage in the carriages.
