What to Do in Case of Flight Disruptions?

Is your flight cancelled or delayed due to a storm or strike? This article explains how to handle it 💪

As soon as the air network is disrupted, airlines are responsible for notifying all travellers affected by these irregularities. They may inform you by email, phone, or SMS. Generally, the traveller is contacted first, but Swile may also be notified.

📆 You have received an email from the airline or Swile, and you want to cancel or change your flight to another day 

Tickets affected by an irregularity, such as strikes, often become changeable without fees and in some cases refundable, even if they were not initially. However, each airline has its own exchange and refund policies. To understand these and manage the disruptions, please contact us.

👩‍💻 You have received an email from the airline or Swile, and you want to continue with your trip 

Airlines try to rebook all travellers on other flights. Normally, if they succeed, you will receive an email with the new itinerary. If not, it means they couldn't find an alternative. 💌 A strike is announced and you haven't received a message from the airline or Swile Travel 

When a strike is announced, it may be that your flight is not affected and you receive no notification. But it's also possible that the airline couldn't notify you/us in time. We advise you to contact us directly so we can check if your flight is still on. Also, if your flight is still on but you wish to change it to travel more comfortably later, please let us know so we can assist you. 

🛫 Your flight is cancelled or delayed and you are already at the airport  

When you are at the airport and your flight is cancelled or changed, you are within the airline's responsibility. This means they must find suitable solutions for you to take another flight or get the necessary assistance according to your situation. We therefore invite you to approach the ground staff on site. If a refund is granted, the airline may inform you of the need to contact us to finalise it. You can reach us through our various channels so we can take the necessary steps.
