I have several gift voucher accounts, in which order are they debited?

When you pay with your Swile card and have several gift voucher accounts, you might wonder which one will be charged 🧐 We’ll explain everything in this article.

Just a reminder, you can’t spend all your gift vouchers in the same way. Each type has its own spending rules. To find out more, see: How do I use my Swile gift vouchers?

However, you can make a purchase at a retailer that accepts several types of gift vouchers, and in this case, you might wonder which account will be charged first. Find the situation that matches yours below 👇

📆 If you have a gift voucher account expiring this month

If you have a gift voucher account that expires this month, we’ll charge that one first.

🙀 If you have several gift voucher accounts expiring this month

If you have a Back to School, Culture and/or Children’s Christmas account expiring this month, we’ll always charge these first, in the following order:

  1. Back to School
  2. Culture
  3. Children’s Christmas

After that, the so-called "Adult*" gift vouchers are charged.

📌 If you don’t have all three of the above types, or if you only have Adult* gift vouchers, they’re charged in order of expiry.

*Adult gift vouchers:

  • Wedding / Civil Partnership
  • Birth
  • Employee Christmas
  • Father’s Day
  • Mother’s Day
  • St Catherine’s Day
  • St Nicholas’ Day
  • Retirement

If you don’t have Back to School, Culture and/or Children’s Christmas vouchers, or if you have other accounts (see the list below 👇), they’re charged in order of expiry.
