As a company, you can offer your employees mobility benefits to encourage more sustainable travel. We explain all about mobility benefits in this article 🚴♀️
💰 What are the different home-to-work benefits available with Swile?
- Public transport season tickets/public bicycle hire services: You can pay 50% of the cost of season tickets purchased by employees.
- Sustainable Mobility Package: You can encourage the use of ‘soft mobility’ means of transport for journeys between home and work.
- Fuel costs : Fossil fuel costs (e.g. petrol, diesel, LPG) or ‘green’ fuel costs (electric, rechargeable hybrid or hydrogen) incurred by an employee for travel by personal or company transport (e.g. car, scooter) to and from work.
These benefits may be combined, subject to certain conditions, and we indicate all the maximum amounts to be awarded, depending on the different benefits, in the following article : What is the maximum exempt amount to be awarded to my beneficiary?
👀 Focus on the sustainable mobility package
As part of the sustainable mobility package, you can pay for employees' transport costs, provided they use so-called soft or alternative forms of transport to get to work:
- Personal bicycles, with or without electric assistance (purchase and maintenance)
- Car pooling, as driver or passenger;
- Public transport, excluding season tickets (purchase of individual tickets)
- Other shared mobility services (electric scooter hire, self-service electric scooter hire)
Your employees can also take advantage of the kilometre-based cycling allowance (also known as the IKV). This is an allowance paid by the employer to employees who use bicycles to commute to and from work. Reimbursement is based on the number of kilometres travelled.
🧐 What's in it for the employer?
All you have to do is top up your beneficiary's account, and they can spend their benefits using their Swile card, or by making a request for reimbursement.
What's more, if your employee already benefits from another employee benefit, such as meal vouchers or gift vouchers, they'll find everything on the same account.
Administrative processing is simplified for the HR department, even in the case of intermodality. The sustainable mobility pass can be used on its own, or combined with a public transport season ticket.
💸 How can your employee spend their benefits?
They have two options:
- Pay with their Swile card in specialist shops. The mobility balance will be debited automatically. To find out more: How to use mobility benefits?
- Request a refund on invoice from your Swile account. This concerns purchases paid for with your personal bank card or transport season tickets debited directly from your employee's bank account. It is not possible to pay directly with the Swile card at non-mobility specialist retailers (Décathlon, Go sport...). You will therefore have to pay in advance using your bank card and then request a refund. Our teams will then take care of the reimbursement. To find out more: How do I request a refund on invoice?
